Brooke and Mitch met senior year of high school when they were visiting Washington University in St. Louis for a scholarship weekend. Both ended up starting their freshman year at WashU the next fall, both with scholarships sponsored by the Woods Family. After 4 years of hanging out as friends, scholarship dinners, business school classes, margarita Mondays and more, Brooke and Mitch started dating second semester of senior year. Post-graduation, Mitch stayed in St. Louis to start his career with Anheuser-Busch and Brooke moved back home to Chicago to start her career with Pepsi and then Waste Management. After 3 and a half years of spending 4 hours driving back and forth on I-55, Mitch took a new role with AB in San Diego and moved in December of 2019. Four hour drives turned into 4 hour flights for the next several months - until July when Brooke took a new role with WM, which allowed her to work remotely. In September, Brooke and Mitch made the 30 hour drive across the country to finally end long distance after 4+ loooong years and settled down in Pacific Beach.

A normal Tuesday date night turned into the Best. Tuesday. Ever. on November 17, 2020! Brooke thought that she and Mitch would just hang out at his apartment and order takeout like usual, but when she arrived, Mitch met her outside and invited her inside to a completely transformed apartment. After taking in the candles, flowers, lights, champagne and music (and thinking that Mitch had really gone all-out for takeout) - Mitch made a beautiful proposal and Brooke said Yes! Just when Brooke thought all of the surprises were done, Mitch shared letters that were written by both of their parents that day (cue even more tears.) The rest of the night was filled with Facetiming family and friends, drinking champagne, eating sushi and calling each other "fiancé!"
