Our story technically began at a party on September 2nd, 2018 at TJC—but according to Lyle, it actually started two weeks earlier when he spotted me in class and began trying to figure out who I was. When we finally met at the party, he confidently walked up, offered me a drink, and sat directly next to me—knees touching and all—while I was thinking, “Why is this guy offering me a drink? I don’t even know him.” Once we started talking, though, the chemistry was instant. We quickly realized we were both from California, had moved to Texas the same year about 45 minutes apart, went to different colleges, and somehow transferred to the same school at the same time—so we’re pretty convinced we were supposed to meet. Our first date was at Jersey Mike’s (still our favorite sandwich place). Lyle says he knew I was the one when we decided to do long distance, but he really knew he wanted to marry me when his horse took off with me on its back and I somehow held on without falling off. I knew Lyle was my person when he willingly sat through all the Twilight movies with me—and may have been a little too invested. On December 13th, he proposed at Inspiration Point in California overlooking the ocean during sunset. Funny enough there was no sunset lol but it still turned into the most romantic moment of my life, and I wouldn’t change a thing.
