How We Met

03.10.17

March 10th, I received a text message from my best friend, Amber. She sent a picture of this guy saying "This is Mike's Brother. He's single, has a good job, owns his own house and loves UK. What do you think about going on a date?”. I replied back sure. I wasn't really sure what I got myself into, but I wasn't about to tell Amber no. So, in true Brooke fashion, I started creeping on him through Facebook. Well, a few minutes later I got a notification that I had a new friend. I was a little excited and sent Amber a text telling her he added me to Facebook. Soon I realized that I was the one who accidentally hit add friend when I was creeping. A short time later, Josh sent me a message. We started talking and the next day we went our first date.

My Last First Date

03.11.17

Our first date was March 11th, at O' Charley's, I'm pretty sure we were both scared to death. It was my first actual date in seven years. I had no idea what to expect or even what we would say. I'll never forget standing in the crowded waiting area, awkwardly waiting for our table and trying to make small talk. We finally got seated and the conversation just started flowing. I'll never forget when he took off his hoodie and I see ALL of his arm tattoos. Not going to lie, my first thought was "Oh Sh$%, How am I going to explain all these tattoos to my grandparents?". Our date was over, so he walked me out to my car, opened my car door and gave me a hug. I knew that night that there was something about him. I couldn't really pin point what it was, but I just knew. When you know, you know.

The Proposal

04.14.18

Samantha, my best friend since 3rd grade was getting married. I had the honor of being her Maid of Honor. If anyone knows me I am a nervous Nancy. I wanted this day to be absolutely perfect and stress free for my best friend. From the decorations to the little minor details, it all had to be just the way she wanted. Part of being the Maid of Honor is making your speech. I actually had practiced this speech over and over on my commute from Lexington. Honestly, that was the only thing I could think about all day. There were so many people at this wedding and I wanted to make sure everyone realized how great Samantha was and how much happiness and love she deserves. In my speech I made this snide remark about not being able to give wedding advice because I have never been married and I held up my hand without a ring. Not knowing that in about 15 minutes I'd be getting ENGAGED! Samantha insisted on Josh proposing at their wedding. Josh was originally hesitant because he thought I'd kill him for doing it at her wedding. Billy, Samantha's husband handed Josh the garter. I was still clueless at this point because Samantha had told me his cousin was going to get it. I just thought maybe Billy forgot who he was supposed to hand it too. Now it's time for the bouquet toss. I had already warned Samantha that I WAS going to catch that bouquet. I really wanted to catch it and turn around and look at Josh and point to my ring finger. JOKE WAS ON ME. All of a sudden, my best friend turns around, hands me the bouquet and tells me "Now it's your turn. So, turn around." I remember saying to her "Stop it" and she then turns me around and there is Josh. He says to me "Let's change the fact that you've never been married, will you marry me?". This was the easiest decision I have ever made, saying “Yes” to the man who showed me what true love really is.
