Didji & I met back in 2013, when I started working at Comcast. He was already working there and was assisting us new hires. What made us Kismet is that prior to us meeting, we met me before. I know, crazy right? 🤪I thought so too, because I really thought that was the first time I met him until he told me he saw me in a lounge before called Gabys. He told me what I was wearing and all.. Right, 😳 stalkerish much. So that night at Gabys, apparently, he saw my brother Tony, whom he went to elementary and high school with and had that bromance moment where they reunited🤼♂️. So Tony told him that he was in Gabys with his sister but Didji still didn't know who I was because I wasn't around Tony at that time, so he never put 2x2 together. Didji said he saw me and spoke to me that night, but I don't remember 😕 oops🤷🏾♀️. Moving right along, a mutual friend of ours, I use to work with at my previous job, told Didji about me coming over to Comcast and told him to look out for me but he only knew my name before putting a beautiful face to it. Once he saw me at Comcast and I asked him for help, he put a face to my name and that my friends started a friendship. 💑We became the best of friends, hanging out together, until one night, we tested our love for one another. Nothing major, but there was more than friendship that came about. We were just having fun at a Halloween party, *don't judge us people*, when a couple months later, we found out, we were expecting our beautiful baby girl and decided to make our relationship official. I know I knooowwww backwards, but hey, it's our story. Didji himself said he felt like it was fate and destiny, hence the name of Our second child, Kismet. That my friends, led us to this very moment where we now have a date 🙆🏽♀️. Two beautiful children 👧🏽🧒🏽 and almost 3 years of engagement💍 later and we are ready to say I DO👰🏾🤵🏿.
Imagine being 9 months pregnant. I'm thinking the only excitement going on is awaiting the arrival of our child. Ankles swollen, can barely breathe, just miserable. But nooo, Didji adds to the lack of oxygen moment by proposing and getting my heart rate going. Truth bomb: 🤫I kind of knew he was going to purpose 🤭😝. It was my birthday weekend and he planned a Staycation at the Diplomat hotel🏩 . That saturday evening, he took Ky'Lei and I to my favorite restaurant Aruba beach Cafe. I thought he was going to propose there, but he didn't, so I was relieved😌. Don't judge me people, I was nervous. So the next morning, I hear 🎶 playing and he was in the bathroom. I looked over on the nightstand and there it was... The 💍. I rolled over and tucked my head and pretended to be sleep. He then woke me up and began talking to me but I avoid looking in the direction of the nightstand 🤪🤷🏾♀️. I then got up and was fishing for something to wear, when I felt his body heat near me but avoided looking back. I could see out my peripheral that he was down on one knee with the 💍 so I dug in my bag a little longer 😂😝. By the time I did get up to turn around, he quickly hid the 💍. I said 😕 "You OK? You fell?" 🤨. This is how I knew he was just as nervous, he said "Yes, I'm OK👍🏽, I was just picking up the rose petals off the floor☺️". I was dying with laughter inside. I went into the bathroom to shower and he said he was going downstairs. I walked out the shower and saw the 💍 on the nightstand with a 📝 on my phone, with the proposal. I thought 💭 to myself, dang, I can't run from this one.. But no if he want to marry me, he have to man up and ask himself on that kneecap. I called him and told him just that. When he returned to the room, he had the nerve to ask me to be his wife 🤨 and I had the nerve to say YES 😏.
