There’s a lot of summer activities to do at this ski resort. Take the aerial tram to the top of Hidden Peak or take the Peruvian Chairlift and take the trail to Mineral Basin for wildflowers. There’s also a mountain coaster, alpine slide, and summer tubing. And depending on the how winter went, you may still be able to ski too.
One of the prettiest scenic drives in the Salt Lake area. Start your journey from the base of Big Cottonwood Canyon and drive all the way to the top, where you can walk around Silver Lake on a popular boardwalk. Give yourself a day to explore the stops along the way. There's a lot of trails to explore. Silver Fork Resturant is a great place to have lunch. Thanks to state laws, you can't buy anything stronger than 5% in grocery stores. But have no fear, the state is hiding all the liquor, wine and beer at state-owned stores across the state. This one is the closest to Alta but you can find plenty other stores throughout the city.
Antelope Island is known for its scenic beauty, especially in the northwest quadrant of the island at Buffalo Point and White Rock Bay, where mountains and hills overlook beaches as well as the reflecting waters of the Great Salt Lake and other islands that are visible in the lake. The island features an abundant wildlife population, including one of the largest free roaming herds of American bison in the U.S.
Not only does the Museum have more than 70 aircraft on displayed in its two inside galleries and outside air park, it exhibits thousands of artifacts depicting the history of aviation of the United States Air Force, Hill Air Force Base and the State of Utah. And best of all, entrance is free.
The trail to the cave provides views of American Fork Canyon and Utah Valley. It climbs steeply 1,092 feet over 1 1/2 miles, and is not wheelchair accessible. No baby strollers or wheeled vehicles allowed on the trail. Cave tours sell out well in advance so make sure to purchase your tickets early.
The 2002 Winter Olympics were held throughout the many resorts and venues in Utah. A no-fee museum is located inside the main building to commemorate the event. Available to the public, the Utah Olympic Park also serves as a training center for winter sport athletes. During the summer, available activities include bobsledding, obstacle courses, and a drop tower.
