Jakob and Brooke first met Freshman year at Hutchinson Community College. They began their journey as friends and had an instant connection. After Brooke moved to Kansas City for school, she and Jakob reconnected their relationship in Lawrence. They began dating February of 2022 and have enjoyed every moment since! Brooke knew Jakob was the one not even two dates in! Jakob constantly treated her with so much kindness and respect they had built as friends, and his sense of humor always kept the day interesting. Jakob knew Brooke was the one before they even starting dating! He claims that even before the relationship had began, he was just happy to have the opportunity to get to know her. Today, Jakob and Brooke both live in Eudora, are finishing their degrees, and have a puppy named Cedar!

The morning started like any other Sunday morning, sleepy and cozy. Jakob suggested that they take their dog, Cedar, on a walk around the near by nature center. Unaware of the plan, Brooke reluctantly got up, ready to walk. The walk went on as usual, with warm weather and a pulling puppy. They then take a turn on to a wooded path, and Brooke spots a gathering path of rose pedals. She turns to Jakob wondering who this was for, until she realizes, looking at him again, that they were for her. Following the trail, the couple were led to a heart of rose pedals under a canopy of foliage. In the center of the heart, Jakob got down on one knee and asked Brooke to marry him. She said “Yes!”`
