On a date at the Houston science museum in June 2024, we went through a beautiful crystal exhibit. Alejandro surprised me with the comment "if I were to purpose one day, it would be with a sapphire" I'd never heard him talk about this before! We moved into our first house together at the end of that month. During the second week of being there we lost power due to a strong hurricane. We played card games, enjoyed the stars for the first time since moving to the city, and he said he wanted to have a conversation about our future. This thinking was inspired by his joy for his best friend getting married, we were honored to be a part of Luke and Nicoles beautiful wedding last fall. He secretly went in to a ring store, then brought me the second time. The lady working with him couldn't compliment him enough on how attentive to detail. She said not everyone is as thoughtful and takes their time to custom design rings like he has. So he said he would purpose in a year, or more. 4 months later.. we flew to visit new hampshire, and he surprised us all. My girls knew I was flying in, I thought I was surprising them. They helped set up the purposal, forcing me to get my nails done when I was very stubborn & said no I don't need too. And of course Alejandro threw them off a bit by being spontaneous, asking me a day early from when they expected, as soon as we parked getting back from the nail appointment. Somewhere in between he asked my dad for his blessing, I'm so grateful to hear that my dad was excited to say yes and approves. He is very protective of his girls happiness, and always said "no boys". If you didn't know the story, this happened at Annie & Jeff house, my favorite place in the world,(aside from the beach). Alejandro was already on one knee in the bed of my dads truck, with a box of chocolates with one missing that he ate, & he put the sapphire ring in its place. When we got engaged, I didn't picture us having any parties before our wedding because we lived so far away. I'm so thankful to be able to have the engagement party. Stephanie & I are that kind of friendship that starts mid twenties during hard times & reminds yourself of your worth, Sarah & I have been best friends since we were 7, my younger sisters are Cayley & Laurel, they have always been my built in bestfriends, & my maid of honor is Sailor & I have been connected since the moment we met in highschool. They sometimes think I'm the big sister, but they have taught me so much too. They've grown alongside me through lots of phases, the highs and lows. Also- today (at the engagement party) I asked Lauren, my cousins (new) wife, to be a bridesmaid. She has been there for me in the tough times. I am so lucky to have gotten closer to her since moving back and been each others bridesmaids! Without these beautiful woman, & all the mothers in my life; Dawn, Nayive, Anne, & Kim, I wouldn't have been brave enough to give love a try again. I hope I am at least half as beautiful as a bride as these ladies were. Alejandros groomsmen are Drew, Josh, Ryan, Jacob & Jacob, & his best man is Lucas. They met way back in college and highschool & collage. Whether it's a house project, a fun night out, or company through the hard times, even when we lived over 2000 miles away they've always been there. I want to also say thank you so much to Alejandros cousin Carlos for taking our dream engagement photos! We haven't skipped a beat, our dreams & desires align. And more importantly when individually having a difficult time, we come together stronger to support each other. This is how I know, we are - the perfect pair- 🍐 I hope everyone can experience a love like how Alejandro loves me. I'm so grateful that now being engaged to him, you can experience him as a brother, friend, or son. He always fills the room with joy and with his presence reminds everyone "life isn't meant to be understood, it's meant to be felt" - & of course, to make sure you dance and laugh, a lot.
