If you know Brook very well, you probably also know that she did not think she would ever get married again or have more kids. Then this guy named Jeff came along. From the beginning, conversation was so easy. His grammar game was strong, and Brook was impressed. He was polite, sarcastic, aligned politically, educated, checked all the boxes. So, they had coffee. Brook talked Jeff's ears off, but he stuck around anyway and found her to be only slightly weird ;) To be fair, she talked a lot, but he had 5 kids… Then Brook ghosted him. For about a week, she disappeared. She was crazy busy at work, and she does that once in a while. Goes from super talkative and responsive, to completely MIA. But, she reappeared, and Jeff was waiting, and they dated some more. Eventually, they introduced each other to their SEVEN children, and slowly began blending more and more as they fell for each other. Both had been married before. Neither had felt like this. Jeff shared a poem with Brook at one point, and Brook was mostly impressed that it was written by Rupi Kaur, one of her favorites. Further proof that he was a keeper. The poem will have a place at the wedding in one way or another, so stick around to find out what it is ;) 14 months into the relationship, Jeff took Brook to Lava Hot Springs where he started a speech. He always shares his thoughts and feelings, so this wasn't really new or out of the norm, but it kept going and became more serious, so Brook--who was setting up the tiny hotel room table for pizza--turned around and paid closer attention. As he continued talking and reaching into a pocket, she started to cry as she realized what was happening. It was the perfect, simple, private proposal. He chose the ring. He surprised her. It was exactly what they both wanted. Brook always dreamt of a marriage in the mountains, and swore that if she did ever get married again, it would be up Provo Canyon near her favorite spot, so that is what they are doing. No words seem accurate or enough to explain how they feel about each other, but they are both ridiculously excited for this adventure.
