Reno airport is the closest option and is just 50 minutes from Donner Lake and 35 minutes from Truckee. If you are flying in and want to spend a night in Reno there are a number of casinos and hotels in the area with lots of fun to be had.

Helpful Flight Tips

1. If you are flying from Australia, look for flights to Hawaii and then a separate flight to Reno. We have done this on many trips and saved a fortune doing this route. 2. If you are flying into San Fran or LA or another big airport and do not want to drive all the way here or pay too much for a connecting flight, check for domestic flights to Reno through Southwest. They are normally very affordable and frequent. 3. This company has a number of private homes that they rent out for short-term holiday rentals. It is another option for groups and we would be more than happy to help you make a reservation. Only a small deposit is needed to book the houses at this time.

There is very limited cab/taxi services and few Lyft/ Uber divers around Donner Lake. You can use them around Reno or Truckee if you are staying in those areas at any time and they will also drop you to Donner Lake from those areas.
