Since some of you may not know I will leave this here - Ross and I met in a grad school class but the interesting part of the story is actually what led up to us being in that classroom together! Ross was attending a graduate school in Arizona, while I had moved from Seattle to Chicago to attend graduate school. We were both working to complete our doctorates in clinical psychology from the same school in different locations. 9 months into my graduate experience the school unexpectedly shut down. An employee had mismanaged the funds which resulted in an immediate cease of government funding. Ross and I both scrambled to find another school to transfer to and were both debating attending schools in Chicago. I had set up to stay there, while Ross was making plans to go back to Chicago (where he is from). We both decided to apply to a medical school in Arizona where we were both accepted last minute and ultimately decided to change our plans. I had to convince the program to allow me to take advanced courses since I was technically back as a first year despite having all of my year one credits. Yet again, last minute, I was approved to take a third year course, one that Ross happened to be in. The loss of a dream school, a very tight budget, another move across the country, an unexpected need for a new car, a scramble to continue our educations, and an emailed (yes I said emailed) phone number later, Ross and I were dating! SO many unexpected and challenging events had to fall in place in order for our paths to cross. I am thankful everyday that they did.
