As we sat down and started planning our wedding, we quickly realized that the traditional route didn't feel like us. It was important that our wedding be small, intimate, and relaxed. Why not take it to what we believe to be the most beautiful part of our state? Why not make it a weekend getaway? Thank you for bearing with the travel and accommodations so that you can join us in celebrating our wedding day. We can't thank you enough for sharing this experience with us.
It was New Years Eve. I had just moved back to Norman, Oklahoma. I wasn’t exactly thrilled about the holiday, but I was excited for my first night out with good friends. I met those friends at a bar, and when I walked in, they were standing with an incredibly handsome man wearing a brown suit vest and a hot haircut. “Who is that?!” I asked my friend Ryan, who was shocked that I didn’t know him. “We went to high school with Bryce,” she said. “Don’t you know him?” I didn’t, but I couldn’t wait to meet him. When we got past the introductions, he and I started chatting. Anyone who knows Bryce, knows he has beautiful blue eyes and a penetrative gaze. When he insisted I attend his party that night, how could I resist? We all went to the party, and Bryce and I spent the night talking, dancing, and scream-singing karaoke. Our connection was electric. Bryce texted me the next day to ask me on our first official date. We were inseparable from that point forward, and our chemistry remains the same almost four years later. I am so lucky to have met someone so kind and funny, and someone with whom I am deeply compatible. I met the love of my life on New Years Eve: 2014, and I can’t wait to spend the rest of my days with him.
The first time I met Colleen was New Years night, 2014. I was supposed to be hosting people at my house for the night, and I had taken a short detour to meet up with a couple of friends. I still remember seeing her walk in, meeting her, and instantly being attracted to her. All I saw was her. I had to leave, but I wanted to talk to her and keep talking to her. For the rest of the night, we were inseparable: talking, dancing, making each other laugh. We had so many strange parallels in our lives. Things that lined up: interests, hobbies, passions. We had both come from military families, and had lived near each other. We felt the same way about our personal politics, religion, and the things that really mattered to us. I couldn't get enough. She was amazing. We couldn't stop talking. I had to see her again, and I couldn't wait to get to know her. The next day I called her and asked out for our first date. We went to my favourite restaurant. We spent days, weeks, months together. Now we live together. We have our pets, our life, our little house, and four years later and it feels just like the day I met her. I never could get her out of my head. She's my best friend, the love of my life, and the most important person to me.
