On July 20th, 2019, I was the maid of honor in my best friend's (Aryn) wedding. We had a BALL that night!! Aryn and Brandon (the groom) decided to have a small after party in the bridesmaids' hotel room. When I walked into the room, I saw this tall guy that I didn't know that looked out of place and wasn't talking to anyone. Being that I was the maid of honor, I decided to walk up to him and ask if he wanted to help me decorate the newlyweds' hotel room before they arrived. He agreed. We walked to the room together and introduced ourselves. He helped me decorate the room and went back to the bridesmaids' room once Aryn arrived to the room. Aryn said to me, "So, I see you met Derrick." I replied, "He's cute! Who is he?" She explains that he's been friends with Brandon since high school. Eventually, I went back down to the bridesmaids' room . I sat next to him, we took shots, and we talked through almost the entire night. The night ended with us exchanging numbers. July 23rd was our first date and the rest is history!

Ok, boom… so there I was July 20th, 2019 at my boy Brandon’s Wedding. I’ve went from randomly having to sit at the table of Bride’s family (Aryn) to a room full of bridesmaids that I’ve never met before. Apparently, I showed up to the “afterparty” way too quick but you know I had to keep it cool and just mind my business. Nobody warned me that my future wife would be there that day but luckily the aura was strong enough she had to see who I was. She asked me to come help her set up the Bride and Groom’s room but I already knew she was plotting to lay claim on me. She was looking GOOD so of course I followed her to help. Once we were done, I made my way back to the room to get a couple of shots before I’d eventually leave. But then my future wife returned and being the thoughtful person she was, she made sure I took shots with her. The night was only getting started at that point and before we knew it, we were talking till the sun almost caught us. I knew it wouldn’t be the last time I seen her and it only took a few days for us to start our happily ever after together.
