Chris and Kennedy’s story began in February of 2024 at Samford University. At the time, Kennedy was completing her final semester of nursing school, while Chris was finishing his first year of graduate school and continuing his commitment as a member of the Samford football team. Their paths first crossed at a women’s basketball game, where Kennedy noticed Chris from across the bleachers. Curious to know more about him, she asked a friend who he was, and that simple moment led to a conversation that would soon grow into something far more meaningful. From that point forward, Chris and Kennedy quickly became inseparable. They continued to grow together throughout Chris’s final year of football and Kennedy’s first year as a nurse, supporting one another through the demands of school, athletics, and the beginning of their professional careers. Their relationship was built on encouragement, faith, and a deep appreciation for the life they were creating together. In May of 2025, Chris left to serve in the United States Army, and although distance became part of their story, it only strengthened the foundation they had already built. On December 21st, 2025, Chris planned a meaningful surprise for Kennedy at Saint Brigid Catholic Church. Believing he was away in the field for several days, she was overwhelmed when he appeared instead to ask her to spend the rest of her life with him. Kennedy joyfully accepted, and the place where their engagement began will also be the place where their marriage begins. They look forward to exchanging their vows in the same church that holds such special meaning in their story, surrounded by faith, family, and the people they love most.
