Best Person
Grace is Brock’s older sister and most cherished friend. When she accepted the role of “best person,” her response was, “who else is going to keep you in line?” And it’s true, there’s no one more qualified for the Herculean task that is “Brock wrangling” (Good luck, Chris!). Grace is as bubbly as the champagne she always has nearby and is hands down the most generous person we know. Put Chris and Grace together, and even the most stressed out Brock can’t help but crack a smile.

More than just being Chris’ sister, Katie has been a best friend, confidante, and counterpart for all of his life — she’s seen every bad hair style, every poor outfit choice, and every moment Chris was ever grounded for getting a speeding ticket (because there were a few). And for 8 years now, she’s been an equal to Brock in their mutual appreciation for teasing Chris. Katie possesses every bit of wisdom that Chris lacks, and is the one person (other than Brock) that Chris seeks for clarity.

This “free bird” has been Brock’s best friend for over 15 years, but If we were measuring in laughs (and the occasional tear) the limit wouldn’t exist. As Brock’s closest confidante, shopping enabler, and fellow chlorine head; Kelly’s stamp of approval was of the utmost importance when Brock introduced Chris to her. Chris passed with more flying colors than a double rainbow, and, 8 years later, there’s no one we’ve shared more laughs with. We’re just waiting for her to buy that one way ticket to the Big Apple and have the world laughing on SNL.

During a random fire drill at UC Berkeley in 2008, John introduced himself to Chris (as Chris was standing all by himself) and the two quickly became best friends through countless sleepovers with Sex and the City, sushi, and John’s meditative (sometimes operatic) sleep playlists — proof for anyone who doesn’t believe in fate. John has been a driving force, constant source of support, and (sometimes) helpful devil’s advocate for Chris through every ambition he has ever had, ever since meeting that one fateful day.

Tarek was the first person we met from Instagram IRL and it was love at first slice. The only person we know who rivals our own love for pizza, Tarek has been one of the most consistent, supportive, and loving presences in our life together for nearly 6 years. Don’t let his big, beautiful brows intimidate you; Tarek has a heart of gold and his loyalty is unmatched by even Thomas.

Megan has been a best friend to Chris from the moment they met, exactly one month after Chris started dating her brother Brock over 8 years ago. She might have wanted to marry Chris at first (only kidding of course), but that love quickly turned into a friendship that has seen them both get eaten alive by mosquitoes in Tulum, survive a blackout together in San Francisco, and most recently stand beside each other as Chris served as witness to Megan’s marriage to her husband Matt Hoang.

It was on Nathan’s birthday in 2015 that we went out in NYC for the first time and met the rest of "the boys," aside from Justin and Nathan's husband Tim, of course. This moment is directly tied to the trajectory of our friendships and ultimately our move to New York. Over the last 5 years, Nathan has become one of Brock's most trusted friends. Together with Tim, Nathan is every bit of 'home' that Brock and Chris needed when they moved to NYC.

A single Instagram direct message and one chance meeting at a diner in San Francisco has led to over 6 years of friendship and countless laughs, where similar to Katie Lin, Justin has been a partner in crime to Brock in teasing Chris. Justin can make Chris laugh at about anything, at the same time that he can draw the most honest and sincere conversations out of him, two qualities Chris will never let go of.

Even though Marshall denies his love for pizza, he still holds a big 'pizza' Brock's heart as well as the trophy for punniest friend. Marshall is one of the most thoughtful, meticulous, and intentional people we know; his creativity is a constant inspiration and reminder of all that is beautiful in the world. Being named the "Godfathers" to Remy, Marshall's and his partner Rob's cat, remains one of the happiest days of our lives.

We met Tim and Nathan rolling around in a ball pit at a music festival in Las Vegas over 5 years ago (ask us about it sometime) and have been inseparable ever since. He's been an anchor for the both of us as we've started our NYC chapter, and has been a constant aid, support, and mother hen to Chris throughout their entire friendship. Tim lights up any room that he walks into.

After knowing us for a matter of months, Tandrew generously invited us on the trip of a lifetime for his birthday, sailing for a week in Croatia. It was on this trip that our bonds solidified over very few meals and even fewer hours of sleep, with the added revelation that Tandrew can make Brock laugh till he bursts (but we’ll save those stories for the bachelor party). When Tandrew and Brock get together, Chris sit back and grab a six pack because you’re in for a double dose of sarcasm and wit.

Over the course of 5 years, many (many) tears, and some of the deepest (most existential) conversations, Drew has become one of the greatest friends Chris (and Brock, for that matter) have ever had — someone who constantly shows the two of them what it means to support a friend wholeheartedly and unconditionally. From sailing across Croatia together in 2016 to now living in the same apartment building in New York in 2019, Drew is as close to family as Chris has in New York.

Words falter when it comes to our love for Kevin, but we’ll still make an attempt — Kevin has been one of the greatest role models we both have ever had in our lives, someone who has constantly shown us what unconditional kindness truly means. Other than both of our fathers (separately), Kevin has shown himself to be the most significant example of what it really means to be a man, a friend, a partner, and, ultimately, a human being in this world. Before we even knew when or where the wedding would take place, we knew that Kevin needed to play a central role in our wedding because of the impact he has had on our lives and relationship.
