About 11 years ago, Brock and Bethany had a weekend youth group ski trip fling in Monarch, Colorado. Brock was 3 years older than Bethany was and left for college shortly after. Unfortunately, they did not keep in touch due to the distance. About 5 years later, Brock moved back to Lawrence, KS to work on his masters at KU (Rock Chalk!) and Bethany was just finishing up Nursing school. The two of them reconnected and after one date knew that they were in it for the long haul! 1 year later the two of them moved to Denver, Colorado and began their life in the mountains. Fast forward to April 9th, 2020! Bethany was in Phoenix, AZ on a travel nursing assignment. COVID-19 had just started to hit the US hard and they were unsure of when they were going to see each other because Brock was still living in Denver. Brock drove down to stay with Bethany for a couple of weeks, both of them not knowing that Bethany's travel contract was going to be cancelled. On the last day that we were in town Brock surprised Bethany with the most beautiful and intimate engagement. Due to the pandemic--the options were slim, but Brock still made it so special. A violinist came and played "Love Story" by Taylor Swift, he had set up a secret photographer and filled Bethany's parents backyard with twinkle lights and 100s of pink rose petals. When Bethany arrived back at her parents house things looked off, so she walked to the backyard to see what was happening and looking handsome as ever, both Brock and their dog Sam were waiting for her at the end of the rose petal trail. Brock got down on one knee (to be honest Bethany has no idea what he said because she thinks she blacked out a little bit) and she said YES! They are so excited to marry one another and continue loving each other more and more every single day.
