Some of the best Italian food in Richmond, and a CAN'T MISS! One of our favorite date night spots. Get there early, and come with an appetite or order to share. They pack the house.
Another really awesome Italian spot, right across from VCU's campus. The dining room is small, so reservations are recommended.
Right across the street from the Omni, they offer great appetizers. You can frequently hear live music in the first-floor bar. If you want to act like you're 22 again, there's a club downstairs. Mark waited tables here, while Lauren was a frequent patron of the club back in the day. :)
This is right down the street from the hotel. Rustic cafe with locally sourced food. Great for breakfast, lunch, or a quick snack.
Our neighbors own this fabulous Jewish restaurant and deli, located in downtown Richmond. There's always a line, but it seems to move. Breakfast and lunch only.
Amazing bakery for pastries and bread!
A Richmond staple. If you're in town for a few extra days, they offer a great Happy Hour. The Firecracker Shrimp is to die for!
Arguably one of the best spots for tacos in Richmond. They don't take reservations or call ahead and the restaurant is small, so plan to go when it's less busy or be willing to wait!
Our second favorite place for tacos...if you can't get a table at En Su Boca, this place is just a short drive down the street!
This place has been a popular go-to in Richmond since before Richmond was known as a food scene. The Cuban sandwiches are out of this world. If you're lucky enough, there will be Tres Leches cake available.
If you're like us and you travel for food, this would be at the top of our list. It's a splurge, and you must reserve well in advance, but the experience will be something memorable.
Mark's favorite restaurant in town, also owned by our neighbors. Reservations recommended.
Lots of local breweries and restaurants! We used to do yoga at Vasen every Sunday, followed by a beer and lunch from Stella's next door. The Veil and Ardent are other popular local breweries, and Lunch/ Supper offers really good Southern fare. If you like antiquing, Class and Trash is a fun place to wander.
The Mile of Style! A unique street with boutique shops and local dining experiences. Stop by Can Can or The Daily for brunch or lunch!
Visit the mausoleum for one of the most beautiful views in Richmond!
Near the museum is Brown's Island, which has some of the prettiest views of the James River and the Richmond Skyline. If the weather is gorgeous, take a walk across The Potterfield Bridge. Somewhere along the way is where Mark proposed!
Maymont is a beautiful park filled with gardens, historic mansions, and even a goat farm and zoo! Most of the exhibits at Maymont are free.
Another historic property with gorgeous gardens!
Dennis and Diane Britton are members of this local art museum that has a diverse collection of exhibits. The main part of the museum is free, and there are always rotating ticketed exhibits to see as well. The grounds are a great place to enjoy a cup of coffee on a nice day!
Creepy and weird, but a cool visit!
