Snapchat led us to an impromptu movie night in Sioux Falls, which unknowingly at the time, sparked our future relationship. Neither of us really admitted it was a "date", but there was a reason we were sitting in a movie theater on a Friday night together. After the movie we went to "The Attic" for a quick drink and conversation, which led us downtown to Dustin's birthday gathering. Chummy stayed sober and out til close so he could be a gentleman and drive all the way back to Yankton :) To "stay awake" on the drive we talked on the phone about our favorite country music, since we were going to see Jason Aldean about a week later.
Where do we start? It was a dream day! Chummy had been hiding a ring in his safe, waiting for the "perfect" time to pull it out. A few months later, he found out Brittni and him were going to Italy! How perfect! From that moment on, he knew it was the proposal opportunity he had been waiting for. Brittni, coincidentally, had a gondola ride in Venice on her bucket-list, even better. After plans were set, and they were headed to Italy, it was a trick to hide a ring through security (and from a girlfriend who kept re-packing & rearranging the luggage), but he managed to keep it a secret. On day 2 of the trip they headed to Venice, and on the way, the boat stopped at a glass blowing demonstration. There, Chummy made a clever statement that they should buy two of the blown wine glasses to use if they ever get married (knowing in just a few hours he was going to propose). They then set off into the town of Venice to find the perfect restaurant and gondola away from the tourists. Eventually they found a quiet and very "local" part of Venice. They ate an amazing seafood Venetian lunch, then set off on the ride of a lifetime through the quiet canals of Venice. Truly amazing! It was the perfect moment, and of course she said YES! Chummy had set up his phone and recorded the entire gondola ride and proposal. After the ride, they strolled through town on a cloud and laughed and kept recalling what just happened, thankful Chummy hadn’t fallen in the canal or tipped the gondola (one of his biggest fears). They made it back to the waterfront, broke out the hand-blown wine glasses from the demonstration and toasted to their new adventure. Couldn't have written it up any better!
