We met in 2010 when my best friend in High school convinced me to play the flute in band. Tyler was already a seasoned trumpet player who ended up sitting 2 rows behind me. We were fast friends enjoying camping trips and outing, filled with sarcasm and laughs. Finally realizing what we felt for each other sophomore year in college. Visiting and writing letters while being almost 2hrs away from one another. Building a foundation for our future on long distance, communication, and lots of love.
We have been to a few memorable places throughout our relationship or better yet to a few places we've made memories at. The day started as a trick, he never had work to start with! I slept in and was awoken to Ty handing me a wooden box. Handmade, built entirely from scratch, cedar wood planks, oil varnish and lots of elbow grease. Locked by a key. Also my first envelope holding the first of many clues taking me through our memories. Every stop had a new clue to the next. Our favorite lunch spot, Bok-A Bok! With A walk about our favorite shops while we waited for the food. Tom and Rebecca's house which is a great place keeper for all of our gathering with friends, and where Tom and Tyler were roommates for the last time. The Chocolate Man, a shop of deliciousness, we used to live right down the street from and make stops in for all occasions! Taking us to St. Edwards State Park. We've been to it so many times throughout the years and it was just a park with an abandoned seminary building and 316 acres of trails perfect for day hikes. We used to joke they should make it into a hotel, which they just did! Leaving us to a staple of our relationship, another park, but this one had a lighthouse! I did get all the keys by the way and inside the Wooden box where treats of my favorite things, candy, a stuffed animal and some games! No ring.....maybe thought there might be..... Talking a walk and stopping at one of the benches, reading the last envelope and piecing all the clues together for it to spell: "Will you Marry Me My Boo" and he was on one knee with a ring I didn't even see because I was so lost in the moment. A 'Yes' was barley Audible. We than had a very full night of everything else he pre-planned. Wine tasting with a unplanned tour of the wine barrels and a turkey sample platter from the lovely host! Yummy burgers and fries and than an absolutely amazing sip and fuse glass art class in which we made keep sakes to cherish forever.
