The story of us began in 2019 when we went on our first date to Rocks State Park on July 5th. Through extensive conversation on our all-day date, we were shocked to discover our intertwining lives. We unknowingly ran into each other a few days before our date at the Cal Ripken Sr. Foundation Badges for Baseball summer camp. Sav was a counselor (and pointed out Britt to her friend saying she was cute) and Britt was filming for work. Yes… Britt has video footage of Sav doing outfield drills with the kids. But wait, there’s more! Britt’s dad and Sav’s parents were employed by Safeway, both in produce AND to top it all off, Britt’s dad trained Sav’s mom while she was pregnant with her. Phew! Still following? We quickly discovered there were too many life connections to count. Four days after our first date, Sav left for Army basic training. A nerve-wracking time but feeling a strong connection already, we were determined to get to know each other more and not let the distance get in between us… a common theme throughout our relationship. During the several months of basic training we could only write letters to one another. Sav was somehow able to decipher Britt’s scratchy handwriting and these letters built our foundation. Don’t worry, we still have all the letters in a scrapbook thanks to Britt’s sentimental ways. Sav asked Britt to be her girlfriend on October 5th, 2019. Although new, our relationship really began to blossom with the time we now had to spend together, making plans for all the activities we had written about in our letters… and then the world shut down in 2020. We had to get creative with our dates and truly started to appreciate each other to the core. The pandemic allowed us to see one another more than we normally would have, with Sav finishing her undergrad degree virtually and Britt working from home. It gave us a glimpse of life together while looking forward to future adventures. We have grown tremendously over the years and have supported each other through numerous graduations and job changes. Sav also helped Britt develop her fashion sense while Britt continues to pull Sav out of her shell. Our love for sports and the outdoors has bonded us while balancing Sav’s analytical brain with Britt’s creative mindset. Our favorite dates include getting lost in the woods, watching movies, exploring small towns, National Parks, and getting French macarons at Les Petits Bisous in Havre De Grace. Britt won the proposal race on Aug 20, 2022, at the edge of Pase Point in Blackwater Falls State Park in WV. Followed by Sav’s proposal on Oct 21, 2022, 6,643 feet in the air at the top of Clingman’s Dome in Great Smoky Mountains National Park. As we began planning to move in together, Sav got the call she was being deployed in 2023. While it was a crush to our progress in the moment, we took the year apart to grow closer than ever, relying on the foundation we created from the start. Upon Sav’s return, we jumped at the opportunity to make 2024 the best year yet! We just bought our first house and can’t wait to decorate it with wedding photos and our memories with all of you.
