How We Met

September 15, 2012

We met back in college and instantly became best friends. We couldn't remember the exact moment we became friends, all we remember is that it was an instant bond. We would spend a lot of our time taking long walks around town getting coffee and talking about life. We got to know every detail about each other during our last years of college together. Flash forward to Christmas Eve 2016...we hadn't seen each other in over 2 years (since college had ended) and went on a coffee date to reconnect. After our coffee date we decided not to lose touch and made sure to talk everyday, even though we both were in different states. We both had realized we wanted to date but weren't sure how it would work, so neither one of us said anything. After a short 4 months of reconnecting we told each other how we had felt for the last 4.5 years. Not to mention that we told each other on April Fools day, so we had to clarify to make sure one of us wasn't joking around! On May 27th 2017 Britt flew over to Charleston for Michael's graduation and we talked out all the worries of being long distant and dealing with a military relationship and decided after all these years to date.

Our Japan Proposal

He said yes!

After moving to San Diego together Michael and I had decided on getting married. Michael had planned out a proposal for when he was back home that would happen in Seattle. But since we had both talked about getting married and how it would happen, nothing seemed too special about it. I had decided to surprise Michael by flying over to Japan to see him. He was already very surprised about my coming to see him so far away from home , that I knew he wouldn’t expect a proposal either. On our third night in Japan (which happened to be our 6 year friendship anniversary), we watched a incredibly beautiful storm come down over the mountains. As we listened and watched the storm we talked about being married and I pulled out Michael’s wedding ring and asked him if he would marry me. He instantly said yes and we were so excited to have this be apart of our story and memory.
