Rockwood Manor is about 15 miles from downtown DC but a car or rideshare (Uber, Lyft, Taxi etc) would be needed to get there or to the closest train station (McLean Metro Station on the Silver Line or Bethesda Metro Station on the Red Line).
Visit: https://wmata.com/ The site has trip planning resources, maps and station information. Metro passes can be purchased at any station and the cost is determined by how far you travel and peak/off peak timing.
The cabin accommodations are climate controlled bunkhouses. Think camp with several bunk beds in the room. There are bathrooms with showers and individual stalls in each cabin. You will have a lockable storage container for any items you want to lock away when you aren't in the cabin (bring a basic lock if you'd like to). You can bring your own linens otherwise a linen packet can be provided by the venue for $15 for the entire visit. The cost for the bunk house is $30 per person per night. We have the cabins available from Thursday night through Sunday - Check out is 11am.
Think rustic B&B. The rooms are a bit quirky and quaint. They are clean and cozy and each room does have it's own bathroom. Linens are included in the price of the stay and we have these rooms from Thursday night - Sunday. Checkout is 11am Sunday?
We will have some planned events with meals such as the rehearsal dinner Friday night, wedding reception & breakfast Sunday morning. Outside of that it will be somewhat casual and flexible in what you would like to do if you are onsite. There are typical pizza, chinese food etc. options that will deliver onsite. There are also several restaurants within a 5-10 mile radius of the venue including a Starbucks, Chipotle & grocery store less than 3 miles from the venue. Each house does have a partial kitchen as well.
Cocktail attire is requested for the wedding ceremony and reception. The ceremony will take place outside but on a paved surface, so shoes of any kind will be fine (though, lawn games will be included in cocktail hour, so please wear appropriate footwear or bring something to slip into after the ceremony!)
