Matthew was living in Fort Worth, TX and came up to Chicago to reunite with college friends and ring in the new year at a dive bar called McGee's Tavern. Brittney was living in Chicago with two college sorority sisters and just happened to go to the exact same bar to celebrate the new year. It just so happened that Brittney and Matthew had mutual friends, Jeremy & Whitney. So when Jeremy and Whitney (groomsman & bridesmaid) ran into each other, the two groups collided and sparks flew. The two exchanged numbers at the end of the evening and ended up keeping in touch for many months even while living so far apart. While they still saw each other on occasion, the distance drove them apart as both were making lives for themselves in their respective cities. Fast forward to the 4th of July 2016, Matthew and Brittney ran into each other again. This time it was at a country bar, and Matthew asked Brittney to dance. Brittney had no idea on how to two step, but Matthew reassured her that he would lead… boy was he wrong. You see, Brittney has a hard time letting others lead and tends to dance at the beat of her own drum. But Matthew was able to see past these flaws and they continued to talk until Matthew made the grand gesture to move back to the Midwest and they have been together ever since! ❤
