Florida Historic Capitol Museum

10 minute drive Restored to its 1902 grandeur with stained glass dome and candy-striped awnings, the Historic Capitol stands as an icon at the center of Florida’s Capital Complex. It houses exhibits on Florida’s political history, the former House and Senate Chambers, Supreme Court and Governor’s suite.

20 minute drive The Tallahassee Museum is a 52-acre nonprofit outdoor Museum located on beautiful Lake Bradford where history, nature, and, wildlife intersect to tell an intriguing story about Florida’s natural and cultural heritage. This unique Museum with its 1880s farmstead, historical buildings, live collection of nativewildlife, and scenic grounds provides hands-on learning and entertainment for all ages. The internationally acclaimed exhibit, Jim Gary’s Twentieth Century Dinosaurs, also calls the Museum home. These vividly colored dinosaurs sculpted from recycled car parts evoke thoughts about art, science and sustainability. Tallahassee Tree to Tree Adventures, the Museum’s new zip line and adventure course, encourages visitors to explore the majesty of nature from high in the trees.

Tallahassee Automobile Museum

15 minute drive Currently, our museum displays over 160 automobiles. Our collection is quite diverse. Automobiles range from an 1894 Duryea, one of the oldest automobiles manufactured in the United States, to a 2010 Camaro customized to look like a Pontiac Trans Am. The 1860 horse-drawn funeral hearse reported to have carried Abraham Lincoln is also on display. Our Batman collection has grown to include three Batmobiles –including the original cars used in the movies Batman Returns and Batman Forever, the Batmobile and Batcycle from the TV series, the Yellow Duck and the original Batskiboat used in the movie Batman Returns. In addition to the vehicles mentioned above, there are many other unique and rare vehicles. The large showcase of vehicles is just a start to what you will see on display. Our museum has a large variety of collections in show condition.
