How It Began

March 2017

Brittney and Dillon first met in March of 2017. Brittney was finishing her Masters in Speech Pathology at Northern Iowa with an internship in Iowa City. Dillon was working at a law firm in Cedar Rapids. Their first date was March 21st at White Star in Cedar Rapids. Just over 10 days later, Dillon asked Brittney if she wanted to go back home to Topeka, stay at his parents' house, and go to Opening Day for the Kansas City Royals. Brittney was brave, said yes, and the rest is history!

Our Story

Following the big leap with a road trip and Opening Day, Brittney and Dillon kept getting closer! About one year later, Brittney took a job in Cedar Rapids at Witwer Children's Therapy Center. A few months after that, Brittney and Dillon bought their first house that they keep making their home! Olive, originally with Brittney, has warmed up to Dillon to become the family cat! Judge, a mastiff mix, joined the family in summer of 2019! Brittney and Dillon have bonded over their love for traveling, beer and wine tasting, spending time with family and friends, and game nights!

How He Proposed

3/30/19

In January 2019, Dillon suggested a trip in March or April to celebrate Valentine's Day/our 2-year Anniversary of dating. Little did Brittney know, there was an even more important reason for the trip! After some searching, we found tickets to Hamilton The Musical in Chicago and planned the weekend around that. Before the musical, we had lunch in the Wicker Park neighborhood. Even though it was way too cold, Dillon kept suggesting we walk through the park (Brittney is always wanting to go on walks!). Finally, Brittney agreed and quickly learned it was the plan for the proposal. She said yes and the rest of the trip became an even bigger celebration!
