After the heartbreaking but necessary decision to cancel our British Columbia wedding we opted for an intimate elopement in our favorite mountains here in Washington.
We first met at our Peace Corps Christmas party in Niarobi, Kenya November 2012. We were shy around each other and made small talk while drinking Tusker beer. Nate remembers the cute tall girl in the polka dot shirt and Britt remembers the cute new guy wearing a Green Bay Packers tshirt in Africa! There was definitely a spark from that night on. Then three months later all Peace Corps volunteers in Kenya were consolidated for safety during the Kenyan presidential elections at a fancy resort. After Britt saw Nate's stellar volleyball skills and Nate saw how much Britt enjoyed beer and country music they became inseparable. Coincidentally following the elections when they first began “dating” Brittnee was uprooted from her host family (9 hours by bus from Nate’s site) and was in a need of a new volunteer site to serve out the remainder of her 2 year service… just so happened that the only available site on such short notice was 3km from Nate’s site across the country- the rest is history.
After 6 short years of dating Nate decided it was time to make it official. Nate proposed at the top of Panorama Ridge in British Columbia.
