“So how do you like the safari?” I immediately regret asking when I get stuck listening to this plump white haired woman babble about butterflies. I just wanted to be with the rest of the group – with Dan. Coming to South Africa for a safari, I did not expect to be more distracted by my very attractive game ranger than by the exotic wild life. I look over to the burly hunk standing in his tan “Kariega Game Reserve” uniform, which includes a collared tee shirt with a strap on each shoulder displaying his senior ranger ranking ribbon. When I look over to Daneil, he’s already looking at me. Our game drive comes to an end once it begins to get dark, and we head back to the main lodge for dinner. After a delicious dinner of grilled meats and vegetables, homemade soup, bread, cheesecake, and other tasty foods, I see Daneil walk over to the bar that’s next to the restaurant. “So who wants to get a couple drinks at the bar?” I perk up trying to entice any of the girls I’m sitting with to join me and go to the bar. After a second glass of wine, I get up the nerve to move next to him. “I’m going to come sit next to you,” I say sliding onto the barstool to the right of him. “Good,” he responds enunciating the “o” like in “food”. He asks me questions, but there’s a different conversation going on with our eyes. I excuse myself to use the restroom after drinking too much wine, and when I come out of the bathroom, there he is, supposedly on his phone. “What are you doing over here?” I say teasing him. We walk back towards the bar, which is up the walkway on the right, but then he leans up against the Spa & Wellness building and tugs me in closer for a kiss. I came to South Africa hoping to explore the exotic animals; I left with an exotic crush. And as they say...the rest is history!
