The Beginning July 2000: Troy was attending Tae Kwon Do classes at the New Berlin J.K. Lee location. Brittany was attending Tae Kwon Do classes at the Brookfield J.K. Lee location. Their paths crossed on a joint trip to South Korea, where they went to study the history and art of Tae Kwon Do. To pass time while traveling many hours by bus across the country... karaoke was a thing... and those bold enough to grace the attendee's presence with singing jumped up for a turn with the mic. At some point... Troy & Brittany decided to sing a duo together. No clue what song. They must have made acquaintances by then... enough to sing together, and have him kiss her hand. Luckily enough, photographer mom Wendy thought fast to grab a photo of that exact moment... which will forever go into history as their first precious moment. Unfortunately, Troy is 5 years older than Brittany, and affectionately explains that he did not want to go to jail for dating a younger girl... so their life paths took them in different directions for 20 years. Covid Era: December 2020 Brittany was on a strike and was going to succumb to a life of solitude after previous relationships fell short of her standards. Troy was beaming out of solitude after healing from a failed relationship. They connected on facebook - Brittany's mom had asked if she kept tabs on Troy at all over the years as she had, through Tae Kwon Do. She suggested that Brittany look into him: He was smart, looked friendly, was an entrepreneur, a runner and healthy! It seemed (to Wendy) to be a perfect match. She referred to him as 'A Silver Fox'. So - Brittany looked into Troy. He was selling a house. She wanted to buy a house. What a perfect pick-up. So - she reached out to inquire about the taxes... Which lead to texting, then to conversations, then to a first date. He took her rock climbing at Adventure Rock on the East Side, where he landed his first kiss on her cheek, then for Tapas on Brady Street. They had 3 dates in a row - and they were hooked. Effortlessly and seamlessly - their lives gelled so easily. After 6 months of dating, Troy introduced Brittany to Emerson. He shared that Emerson was just going into some really great years, and that she would love being part of them. Emerson accepted Brittany kindly and lovingly, and now Brittany gets to experience the pre-teen's and teenage years again, vicariously through Emerson. Troy and Brittany just bought a 100-year-old home in Brittany's childhood Wauwatosa neighborhood so Emerson can continue to walk to school and stay close to her friends. They have a lot of household projects to accomplish to update the house, but it is very comfortable and quiet for them (it also has a fully fenced in yard for the 3 pups). Whatever your spiritual beliefs are - Brittany & Troy would like to share their belief that everything happens for a reason at the exact right time that it's supposed to happen. And no matter how much time goes by, it will always work out in the end. They look forward to celebrating their wedding with close friends and loved ones.
