It was a Monday evening in June and both of us happened to be at the Central Rock climbing gym in Glastonbury, CT. Our friends had been chatting between climbs, so we ended up joining the group. It didn’t take long for us to start having a side conversation (about our dogs of course) and we quickly realized how much we had in common. “I’m Brittany by the way.” “Travis.” And as they say, the rest is history!
After spending much of the summer together, enjoying dog walks and countless iced coffees (which Travis realized Brittany’s coffee is more like “diabetes in a cup” with all the cream and sugar she adds), we decided to make it official!
It was a cold, rainy Sunday in January and we decided it was a great day for a stroll in the woods with Mookie (the youngest dog with too much pent-up energy). We walked down the trail along the river near our house and stopped at one of the lookout points. Travis gave the best speech and popped the question. And of course Brittany said yes! Not a soul was around, making the moment only ours, which made it extra special and absolutely perfect for us.
We are so excited to be getting married at StoneHurst. It is an exquisite venue, and for us, it also holds extra meaning. StoneHurst parks a red truck at its entrance as a landmark for guests. When either of us are driving home from the Hartford area, we always say “we’re passing by the red truck” to indicate how close we are to home (usually 10 minutes). We’d banter that once we were engaged we’d have to take a look at the venue. And now we are getting married there!
