I arrived at City Tap in downtown Nashville to work one of our News Talk Station events. The "location sponsor" happened to be my client so I was there to say, "Hi", and make sure everything ran smoothly. Still only four months on the job, I noticed there were people from my team at this event whom I had not yet met. One in particular, who immediately caught my attention wearing an orange polo, khaki shorts, and flashing his JC Penny Catalogue smile, was the Promo Tech, Teran. I will never forget the undeniable spark I felt in that split second, and remember exactly where I stood the moment I saw him. Of course, being the calm and cool professional I am, I casually introduced myself to everyone around him first. When I made it to Teran, he shook my hand with a suave and smoldering smile while I professionally thanked him for working and making the event a success. (This was very brief because his eye contact was too strong and made me very red in the face). Later in the evening, we found ourselves at a table with another coworker talking about movies, actors, and books (lol). Aside from how strikingly handsome I found him, I remember being impressed with and taken by his demeanor, the way he spoke, and again THE EYE CONTACT. My biggest take away from that interaction was how natural conversation felt between us. There was no denying, I was a smitten kitten with my new coworker. I drove home that night thinking about how happy I was to have the opportunity to continue to get to know him. It was a hopeful feeling, almost like it was the first day of a beautiful story.. and it was :).
I had just started a new job at Cumulus Nashville and was working my first event for our news talk station, 99.7 WTN. The station’s on-air talent was at City Tap in downtown Nashville for a “meet and greet” type of ordeal, which was intimidating for a quiet and shy person like myself. Eventually, I started chatting to the listeners and warming up to the event, when the most beautiful woman I’d ever seen walked in the door. She introduced herself as Brittany, the station’s sales rep, and I mumbled out some semblance of an introduction stating who I was. Being the professional that she is, Brittany continued to talk to me throughout the evening and our discussion turned from the formalities (how are you liking the job, where are you from, etc) to more conversational topics (movies, TV shows, etc.). While I was certainly attracted to Brittany’s physical beauty, I was even more entranced and enamored by the kind, thoughtful and genuine person she seemed to be (and still is). If you know me, you know how important my faith is to me... Proverbs 31 says that “charm is deceptive and beauty is fleeting, but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised” and, from the very beginning, I could tell that Britt was a God-fearing, “Proverbs 31” woman. For me, it was undoubtedly love at first sight, and I left City Tap that night feeling so excited to work and be around Brittany in the days to come.
