welcome!

We've created this website to serve as a resource for our guests. We can't wait to celebrate the next chapter of our lives with you. Love, B&P

the beginning

Brittany and Pedro met at the University of Iowa in the spring of 2014. They crossed paths working at DC's — a popular sports bar downtown. Starting at the bottom, they often got stuck working the same crappy shifts in hopes of making their way up the ranks. Brittany waited tables and Pedro worked the kitchen line. While they didn’t hit it off immediately, the two of them slowly got to know each other through the special place that is the kitchen window. Eventually casual conversation turned into more, and thus the time old tale of the waitress and line cook was born.

next steps

Though she’ll never admit it, Brittany finished college in 5 years to postpone the inevitable stress of planning post-grad life with Pedro. Neither had a clue what they wanted to do, which resulted in them landing jobs almost 800 miles apart. After much back and forth, they decided to let their new roles pan out before mapping out next steps. Brittany moved to Chicago to start a job in sales and Pedro flew back home to begin a position in mortgage lending. Well — surprise! — both of them hated their new jobs. And — surprise! — long distance wasn’t easy either. The good news was at least Brittany was enjoying some success in her new role. With this is mind, Pedro quit his job, packed his bags, and booked a one-way ticket to the Windy City, never looking back. B&P have been doing life together in Chicago ever since. They moved out of Brittany’s tiny studio into the wonderful apartment they still call home today. They also graduated into new careers that better aligned with their passions. From working opposite schedules, to Pedro's overuse of salt, and Brittany’s (perhaps excessive) need for a spotless apartment, they've navigated through several challenges as well — all while becoming stronger partners along the way.

the proposal

12.27.19

After 5 1/2 years, Pedro decided the word “girlfriend” didn’t do his relationship with Brittany justice. He secretly bought a ring in early December with the help of Nicole and Diego, Brittany’s sister and her boyfriend, in hopes of proposing in a few short weeks. A few days after Christmas, B&P arrived in Brooklyn to stay with Giselle and Evan, Pedro’s twin sister and her now fiancé. The plan was to pop the question before enjoying dinner at Misi, a prestigious restaurant by the Williamsburg Bridge. Unfortunately, the weather had been poor all day and the odds of convincing Brittany to venture into the elements were slim — Brittany’s hair and nature don’t mix. Luckily, the rain cleared up just in time as the four of them made their way to the restaurant. As they walked along the water, G&E suggested a casual photo op in front of the New York skyline. Instead of taking a few pictures, Evan sneakily shot a video as Pedro got down on one knee. Brittany was shocked. She was so stunned in fact she didn’t say yes, only managing to meekly nod her head to accept the proposal. A better dinner was never had.
