Our Story

It all started one summer in Seattle 5&1/2 years ago. Two bright eyed wannabe engineers started their desk jobs in a Boeing building that overlooked Puget Sound and the Olympic Peninsula. Their first major interaction came when Brittany asked the lunch group what mountains we were looking at. Michael responded with "the Olympics" and Brittany responded "What, are you a local??" in a somewhat aggressive tone. About halfway through the summer, Brittany asked a group of interns if anyone needed a ride to an intern event in downtown Seattle. Not wanting to drive in traffic, Michael took up the offer. During the event, they were nearly inseparable as they explored the Museum of Pop Culture and bonded over their common sense of humor. As the summer continued, they traveled to Vancouver, B.C., hiked in the Cascades, and explored Seattle and its surrounding beaches. Towards the end of the summer, they shared their first kiss after watching the greatest film of all time, Interstellar.

As they parted ways back to their respective schools on the East Coast, they agreed to stay in touch. Michael visited Brittany during Labor Day and got to meet her golden retrievers. In October, Brittany flew to Albany, NY and they road tripped through Vermont and New York, looking at the changing leaves. In November, they met in NYC to celebrate Brittany's birthday by getting pizza and traditional Italian desserts in Little Italy. The next night, they attended an Outing Club Formal and had a grand time square dancing. That night, they decided to become official and truly start dating. Their adventures continued with Michael visiting D.C. in December and Brittany visiting New York in January and braving several cold hikes. In February of 2020, they visited Philadelphia for Valentines Day and made plans to meet up in April. Unfortunately, the world had other plans and the lockdown started. They continued dating by talking on the phone and watching movies together while on facetime.

In August 2020, Brittany visited Colorado for the first time and they spent 3 weeks exploring Denver and traveling around the state on the weekends. But after this trip, they didn't see each other in person until June 2021. Brittany traveled back out to Colorado and Michael took her whitewater rafting for the first time. In July, Michael traveled to Texas to experience the humidity of Angleton in the summer and see the Saturn V at the Rocket Park at NASA Johnson. That August, Brittany moved to Colorado to start graduate school at CU Boulder. Now living in the same state, they made sure to have weekly dates and do weekend trips. In July 2023, the two took off on a 3 week road trip to explore the national parks of Wyoming, Montana, and Washington. In Olympic National Park, on an overlook of Heart Lake, Michael got down on one knee and asked Brittany to give him the honor of spending the rest of his life with her. They celebrated with a mini sparkling wine and backpacker's pizza.

For the past year and a half, Michael and Brittany have continued to share in adventures both in Colorado and across the country.
