We met during a club event "The Bowling Club" hosted by Florida Tech, and I didn't think much about it. I'll be honestly I was the secretary of the club so I was manning the welcome table and only recognized him as the cowboy with boots (blue jeans and a baseball cap). The first few weeks he was always coming with some girl so I minded my own business and went on my way. It wasn't until a few weeks into the semester when we started talking to each other as friends, but to be truthful that's only because I no longer saw this girl coming around anymore. I made the first move by "stalking" him on Instagram every now in then, when I realized his photo had changed and it was no longer him and some girl I made a move. I added him on Instagram and then added him on Snap Chat, all thought I made the first move by adding him on social media he sent the first message. We became really good friends, I got a little scared because I felt like things were moving a little fast and I pushed back some. We went almost two months without even saying a single word to each other. I knew before the Spring semester started I needed to work up the courage to talk to him again because we had class together and I didn't want things to be awkward especially because he was the outsider in the class because he decided to take Naval Architecture with all the Ocean Engineers. I will say that was probably not the smartest move because my graduating class can be a handful and I'll leave it at that. A few months into the semester, Justin offered to be my Thermodynamics tutor, even though we had drifted away from each other (my own fault) he never gave up on me. One night during bowling (I'll admit it was a little bit out of jealously) I knew that Justin was the man I wanted to spend the rest of my life with!! If you ask Justin what his side of the story is he will tell you he fell in love with me the first day he laid eyes on me. But he will also say I didn't make things easy on him.
So Brittany was just finishing up her internship in the DC area. She was coming down to stay with me in VA before heading back to FL. I told her I wanted to take her on a surprise trip, and I didn't tell her where, other than I planted some seeds about wanting to go to Michigan. So it wasn't until we started driving west did she realize we weren't going to Michigan. I picked a beautiful cabin in the mountains of Tennessee to ask the love of my life to spend forever with me. When we arrived after an 8 hour drive, Britt was so excited when she saw the cabin and the view. But I had more to the surprise, so I blind folded her before she could get too many ideas. I texted our parents.... Wait I didn't explain, I also go all four of our parents to be there as a surprise, and to share this beautiful moment with us. Nervously I grabbed the ring, and walked her out to the yard in front of the cabin, looking out over the trees and the mountains. Before she could take the blind fold off, I waited until our parents were able to get staged behind her, cameras ready! I go down on one knee and proposed the most important question of my life. She was speechless and said YES! We embraced, and she was almost in tears. I whispered in her ear to turn around, I have another surprise! When she turned around and realized that our parents were there and were able to capture it... She was really speechless and in tears at that point! I think we all were. I was so nervous but so excited to plan it all out, and by the grace of God, it was perfect. We then shared several days at the cabin exploring and celebrating in the Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge area.
