And we're off to the altar...

Some of you may have already realized that our big day is on the same day as the 148th Kentucky Derby. If you are feeling festive and want to come dressed in your best Derby attire, we are in full support!

The pair were introduced through Jimmy's college roommate (Jon) and his wife (Jess) who also happen to be Brittany's neighbors. It was a spring afternoon the weekend of the Kentucky Derby and Brittany and Jess were hanging out on the back porch after getting the kids from the bus stop. While talking about plans for the evening, Brittany asked Jess, "Where is your husband?" to which Jess responded with, "Sitting on your future husband's patio, they just got done golfing." Brittany laughed because Jess and Jon had been mentioning Jimmy for a few months now and said, "I keep hearing about this 'Jimmy' guy, but I still haven't met him". Jess went on and asked Jon if he and Jimmy would like to come over for a fire and drinks at Brittany's house that night and they agreed. Jimmy at the time was living in Indiana and due to the last-minute nature of the get-together, he failed to think about bringing a second car to get home… and so he stayed the weekend at Jon's. Brittany and Jimmy hit it off instantly and they spent the weekend talking and laughing with friends. As the weekend came to a close, Jimmy finally asked Brittany for her number and the rest is history.

To the surprise of many, Brittany convinced Jimmy to run The Flying Pig half marathon this year. Due to Covid, the race was pushed out to Halloween weekend in 2021, so they spent the majority of the summer and fall training where Jimmy gave Brittany the nickname "B-Rabbit" joking that he was always chasing her in their training. As the pair crossed the finish line, they were greeted by our families holding signs of encouragement for the race; however, when Jimmy gave them the signal the signs were flipped and read, "Will you marry me B-Rabbit ?" Shocked, Brittany turned around and Jimmy was on bended knee where he asked her to marry him and she said, "Yes!" Since Jimmy had to get special permission for our families to stand behind the finish line, the news found out about the event, covered the proposal, and captured special video footage, too!
