Brittany and Jesse met on May 4, 2010, at a party. It was a Tuesday. Brittany was impressed with Jesse's numerous tattoos and stylish shoes. Jesse was drawn to Brittany’s exuberant smile and command of the room. Brittany wanted Jesse to remember her and gave him a warm cheek kiss when she left. Jesse thought of nothing else for the rest of the night. Jesse planned to move back to Northern California at the end of the summer, so they figured they would have a fun, casual summer fling. Little did they know that their summer romance would blossom into a lasting, committed partnership.

The summer Brittany and Jesse met, they spent a weekend in Santa Cruz that created some of their best memories. Jesse knew that was the place to propose when the time came. Once they had planned a trip in the fall of 2018, the plan went into action. He secretly bought the ring, hid it in his backpack, and prepared for the big moment. When they arrived in Santa Cruz, Jesse ran through a few options and decided to make a dinner reservation at the same restaurant they visited all those years ago. It was El Palomar on Pacific Avenue in downtown Santa Cruz. He thought they would go to the pier after dinner and he would surprise her there. Being impatient, Jesse popped the question right there in the restaurant. Brittany could not have been more surprised. She did say yes, of course!
