How We Met

Tinder-roni?

Version 1 (the real story): It was 2014, I was in business school at the time and I was sitting in class talking to friends about who knows what and they started talking about this dating app, and I shrugged it off like "No, Im good, I wouldnt even know what to do". They then proceeded to tell me how easy it was and that I should just try it. I rolled my eyes (typical) and downloaded the app to which we all know now as Tinder. I had been on it a couple of days swiping left and right and then I came across this one guy's profile and I was like "hmmm he's cute, let me scroll through some other pictures and see what he's talmbout". I was intrigued but I also noticed we had a lot of mutual friends. One in particular mutual friend, who shall remain nameless on this here website but for those who I have told this story to before you know who I'm talking about lol, was in one of his pictures and I was like "uh-oh" not sure how this going to play out. But, I swiped right anyway. He actually hit me up the same day and we talked all day long and actually set up a date for that evening at The Standard beer garden. We were really comfortable with each other and we had really good vibes despite him telling me he went to Hampton his first year of college, low key strike 2 lol. Through all of the talking, laughing, joking, and just kickin it, he had me out to 4:30 in the morning and we have been inseparable ever since. Version 2 (What we tell folks): We met through a mutual friend at a party.

How He Proposed

One Does Not Pass Up A Photobooth

Brittany has a crazy obsession with photo booths. Wherever we go if there is a photo booth opportunity she is taking advantage. So, I wanted to incorporate that into the proposal. I searched online for photo booths in DC and came across The Smith. I convinced her that we were going to The Smith for Happy Hour to meet some friends, but she had no idea that they had a photo booth. Once we got there I said "Hey, they have an old school photo booth here" and she was a little inquisitive in the beginning, but she ultimately fell for it. We got into the photo booth and on the second picture I pulled out the ring and here we are today. PS: She also didn't know one of her best friends flew in from Sweden to surprise her, I had a surprise dinner with all of her best friends setup, AND a surprise engagement party with all of our friends later that night.
