Search for Once Upon a Time Wedding Barn in whatever Maps app you like and it should pop right up. Alternatively, the address is 32 Smith Rd, Olmstedville, NY 12857. When you arrive, you will see signs for “It’s About Thyme”, turn into there. Drive along this road for awhile. Father than you think you should. You will pass the garden center, a barn, a pumpkin patch; the road continues back there behind the pumpkin patch. You will see strands of lights hung up in the trees, drive along that path and pass the barn on the right. There you will find a parking lot and people to help direct you where to park. The ceremony is on the right side of the road by the water. We will post signs to help. Main thing to remember is just keep going! It’s back there :)
There is a reason we added this question! The cell service is notoriously BAD in this area. Please make sure to put the directions in your GPS before you leave, using the wifi. Be mindful and follow the GPS. It will have trouble rerouting so just follow the directions and it will get you there. If you get lost, ask for directions to “It’s About Thyme”. The locals will be familiar with the garden center and pumpkin patch.
It is often in the 60s and 70s during the day but can get chilly at night, even into the 30s sometimes. In 2023, it was actually summertime hot for the first couple weeks of September and then got cool later on. Best to be prepared with layers.
Please RSVP by August 3rd. There is an RSVP tab on this website and you should be able to access it directly through the QR code on the invitation. Help the older folks if you can :) You can also just RSVP to Brittany or Garrett directly. Just please do RSVP!! We want to be sure there’s enough food and cake and seats for everyone. Thank you :) Britt: 352-422-3457 beenellis@yahoo.com Garrett: 518-241-9889 gleblanc756@gmail.com Don’t forget to tell us if you would like a vegetarian meal!
On the right hand side of the website there is a menu that looks like a few horizontal bars stacked. Click on that and the menu should pop up. Click on RSVP and when the page loads, enter your first and last name. This will search for you and anyone in your “party”. You click continue and RSVP for yourself (and the rest of your party if you can). You will also select a meal option. Feel free to enter your email when prompted so we have an easy way to update you with any wedding information. Thank you! If you have any trouble or would just prefer to contact us and let us know directly, please feel free.
We do have a registry that you can find on the Registry tab of this website. Times are tough for so many right now and we genuinely mean it when we say to please not feel any pressure to give us anything. It is a big deal that you coming to our wedding! That is such a great gift. If you feel called to give a gift, we did put some things on a registry. We are grateful that we don’t want for much. We would also be excited to receive any thoughtful, handmade items.
If you’re flying, fly into Albany International Airport. This taxi company (https://minervaairporttaxi.albanyairport.taxi) can arrange transportation or contact us and we can arrange something between all of us with cars.
The beauty of this area is that it’s a small town with lots of incredible natural spaces. That does, however, mean a bit more limited lodging. I included a few close by motel/ bed and breakfast type places and several other choices under the Travel tab of this website. There are quite a few houses to rent in the area via Airbnb or VRBO. If you have any trouble at all finding a place, please reach out to us so we can help. Truly <3
Please arrive a little before 4pm so we can start on time and you can have drinks and food faster! You can start arriving at 3:30pm if you’d like. Ideally we’d like everyone there and seated by 3:55pm.
It’s an outdoor and barn wedding. Our official dress code is “dressy casual “ or “semi-formal”. Feel free to dress in what makes you feel good. You can do a pretty sundress, a three piece suit, a floor length sparkly gown (I bet you’ll look great!), or a button up with the sleeves rolled and khakis. The wedding party is doing bare feet for the ceremony (and maybe the reception!) so you are encouraged to join us for some lovely grounding. Or not - if that’s not your thing.. you know who you are ;) and maybe don’t wear a white dress? Other than that, dress how you want! It’s kind of an autumn theme so feel free to go off that if you need some more structure. Be mindful, the ceremony is on the grass so the stilettos might not be the best idea for that part of the event. Also, bring something warm just in case it gets chilly.
There is parking at the venue. It looks like plenty but we would appreciate car pooling if you can to make things smoother and easier in the parking area. A good idea for people drinking who have designated a DD anyway!
We really want this to be an intimate gathering of people we know and love. We did our best to include as many of our friends and family as we could. Invitations were addressed mindfully so if it does not say “and guest” or specifically name your date on your invitation, please respect that. We greatly appreciate your understanding.
Yes! We love kids and this is a family oriented, fun filled event. Most likely, if you have kids, they were included on the invitation as “and family”. They will be listed when you RSVP.
During the ceremony, sit on whichever side you like; we are not designating sides for groom and bride. There will be seats in the front marked reserved for the immediate family. As long as the seat isn’t marked, go right ahead and sit! During the reception, there will be a seating chart and name tag to help you find your seat.
We don’t mind if you take photos but try to enjoy the moment and keep it to a minimum during the ceremony please. We will have a very special photographer taking photos for us and we’d love to see your faces in our photos. For the reception, snap away please!!
The ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception are all happening at the same place, Once Upon a Time. The cocktail hour and reception will be in the wedding barn that is about 50 feet from the ceremony site. Once you’re here, you’re here!
Fair enough. If everything goes as planned, the ceremony will start at 4-4:15, last maybe half an hour, then we’ll have cocktail hour with hors d’oeuvres around 4:45-6. Dinner should be around 6:15-6:30. Don’t hold me to this! We won’t let you go hungry don’t worry :)
You can choose between carnivore or herbivore. For those who choose meat - there will be both a chicken and a beef option during dinner. For herbivores - we will have a vegetarian main dish for you as well as vegetarian friendly sides. For any gluten free friends, we will have plenty of options for you as well.
We are being mindful of gluten allergies already but if you have another allergy, please feel free to reach out and we will do our very best to accommodate and make sure you are safe and fed.
Yes. The alcohol is provided by the venue. We are opting for a beer and wine open bar. If you would like something else, you will be able to purchase it from the bar. It goes without saying, 21+ only.
We have the barn until 10pm. For anyone who wants to keep hanging out, we’ll likely have a relaxed get together with music and a fire at a nearby house.
We will be in the area from the 7th until later afternoon on the 15th. If you decide to come early, please let us know and we will invite you to all the fall fun we are planning to have. Hiking, apple picking, mushroom hunting, cider pressing, game nights, game days, and more. You can come to everything, a few things, or just enjoy the area on your own! We are hoping to have a brunch on Sunday after the wedding for any guests sticking around. We will let you know more about that as the day gets closer!
