In an attempt to escape the demands of her second year of physical therapy school and the bustle of NYC, Britt joined her cousin Terese in Penn Yan, NY at their favorite getaway... Uncle Frank's lake house. Penn Yan, NY was where Ethan was born and raised. He was just 19 and about to embrace a new life journey, taking him to Corvallis, OR in a couple of weeks. While, Britt was 22 pursuing her physical therapy degree at Columbia University in NYC. The night they met sparked a connection that went beyond friendship. They became genuinely interested in each other's lives and current pursuits despite being unsure of where life would take them. Over time the pursuits that intrigued them became the thing that stood in the way of a relationship blossoming. Resolving to part ways became the easiest way to protect themselves, knowing the timing wasn't right. While each person matured, God was guiding the pursuits of their hearts to ultimately be reunited 7 years later in North Carolina.
Ethan planned a weekend getaway to Lake Lure, NC as a way to provide balance and reprieve from a busy and stressful summer. Knowing that both he and Britt had always found solace in the mountains of Western NC. Unbeknownst to Britt, Ethan optimimiscally thought, "Maybe we can get married the same place we get engaged." Ethan woke her up early and took her for a walk by the water where he popped the question. Amazingly, she said "yes"! We celebrated by meeting with friends and family on a rooftop in uptown Charlotte. Britt's parents, sister Kiara, and cousin Terese made the long trip from out of town to surprise her, while Ethan's parents came all the way down from NY to welcome Britt in to the Kamholtz family!
