Denver Museum of Nature & Science
A visit to the Denver Museum of Nature & Science is another of the top things to do in Denver for people who enjoy educating themselves as it is a great resource for those who want to learn more about the natural history of the Centennial State, the world and the universe. One of the best ways to do the latter is to take a visit to its 125-seat Gates Planetarium. Also in the Denver Museum of Nature & Science is a 440-seat Phipps IMAX Theater. Its exhibits include dinosaur bones dating hundreds of millions of years and Egyptian mummies that are thousands of years old. It also has a wildlife exhibit that provides information on animals that are based throughout the world. Overall, it touches upon anthropology, geology, health sciences, space sciences, paleontology and zoology.
Larimer Square
Many view Larimer Square as a must see in Denver. This destination has played a significant role in the history of Denver as this is the community's initial commercial block, having been created for that purpose in 1858 and then serving as its primary business area for decades. Although that focus lessened significantly throughout much of the 1900s, it started being restored in the 1960s. Today, it serves as a popular contemporary shopping area. In fact, those coming to Denver to do shopping will likely already have Larimer Square on their itineraries as it offers a tremendous variety of wares on sale. However, that is not all that it provides visitors as its various restaurants and nightlife energy attracts visitors for those reasons as well.
Denver Zoo
Denver Zoo is amongst the best Zoo's in America. Located in the east side of historic Denver, it's a great zoo experience while exploring the Mile High City.
Pikes Peak Cog Railway
The Cog has been climbing Pikes Peak since 1891. We are proud to be one of the most unique experiences in the country. Recognized as the world’s highest cog railroad, The Broadmoor Manitou and Pikes Peak Cog Railway is an important part of the heritage of the Western United States.
Rocky Mountain National Park
Only 1.5 hours away from Denver, this National Park offers amazing views during the fall. Also note October is prime Elk season where drivers often get a close up view of these majestic beasts in their natural habitat.
