We rode the school bus together throughout high school. Occasionally we would sit together getting to know one another, always joking around. We realized we played soccer against each other. I had the biggest crush on him, my heart would always beat a little faster every time he would stop a shot, and smile. Everyone cheered him on, to me he was always the star of the game. After our last game of the 2016 season, instead of high-fiving, Devin thought it was funny to tap my forehead. Using that as an excuse to text him, we would talk on the phone for hours. A few weeks later we made it official.
On the anniversary of our 4th year of dating Devin took me to the Roanoke Star, he invited my sister Hailey to take pictures of us. As we looked at the view of the city of Roanoke, the fog lightly treaded the mountains, the sunset glared a beautiful hue of gold and blue. He reminded me of how much he loved me, and how he would do anything to make me happy. He explained how he was thankful to have me, just when I tried to collect my feelings into words he turned me around and nervously got down on his knee. The words “So, Will you marry me” stumbled out. I immediately burst into the happiest emotions with tears rolling down my face. Not only did he include my sister, but she took the perfect video of the happiest moment of my life. We finished the night eating dinner at our favorite restaurant Kabukis, endless smiles were displayed, and lots of phone calls were made. All of the years we spent promising to one another, the time came to turn God’s blessing of our love to join us as one.
