Our friendship began while we were studying at the University of Texas. We were both in relationships at the time and would have never predicted that this was the beginning of our love story. Several semesters later we found ourselves single and spending a lot more time together. We spent the first few months of 2017 working out, going to concerts, grabbing drinks, cooking meals and watching our favorite tv shows together. By the time we realized that we were falling in love, David was preparing to begin his first job in Dallas. Brittany was unsure where she would be placed for her dietetic internship and questioned if she would be able to juggle the stress of a demanding internship and a long-distance relationship. After the first week at his new job, David was already driving back to Austin to spend the weekend with Brittany. At the end of that weekend, we sat together and anxiously opened the email that informed Brittany of her match to an internship in Dallas, Texas. On that day (March 26, 2017) - We both knew it was meant to be!
After several months of quarantine, we finally decided to get away to a place where we could catch some great views and big fish. We had the most memorable day fishing in Cabo. Brittany was elated to see a huge whale and hundreds of dolphins and she was even able to pet a wild sea lion. David was satisfied with his trophy fish, a huge marlin that he fought with for 20 minutes before finally getting it into our boat. After getting off the ship we enjoyed our fresh caught tuna at a local restaurant on the pier. David commissioned a local singer to serenade Brittany with one of his favorite songs that his grandfather used to sing. The next day we enjoyed a relaxing day by the pool and a romantic dinner in an open air restaurant with an ocean view. Later that night, we spent time talking, listening to music and enjoying the city view over the ocean from our hotel room balcony. Brittany questioned why David was so adamant on keeping the balcony lights off…until he finally pulled out a small box with a bright light shining down on a gorgeous pear-shaped diamond ring. David asked Brittany to marry him and of course she said yes!!
On the five year anniversary of us committing to a relationship together, we will be committing to a lifetime of love. We cannot wait to celebrate with you all!
