We’re Getting Married!

Brittany and Cruz’s story began in 2019 in San Antonio, Texas—two people in the same place at just the right time. Brittany was in her final semester at UTSA, working toward her bachelor’s degree, while Cruz had recently moved to San Antonio from Weslaco, TX. Though their paths seemed unlikely to cross, God’s divine timing had other plans. They first met in Nordstrom’s coffee shop, where Cruz worked as a barista and Brittany worked in beauty. Introduced by a mutual friend, their initial conversation was brief and lighthearted—but unmistakably different. There was an instant, undeniable spark, one they both felt but didn’t yet speak aloud. Weeks passed with playful banter exchanged over coffee orders, until Nordstrom began a store remodel and the coffee shop closed for three long weeks. Just like that, their daily interactions came to a sudden pause. During the break, both Brittany and Cruz found themselves confiding in close friends and coworkers, seeking advice on how to finally make a move. When the coffee shop reopened, it was as if no time had passed at all. Their connection picked up right where it left off. One afternoon, Brittany and her best friend Jenna (now one of her bridesmaids) stopped by for coffee. While taking their order, Cruz asked for their numbers—for the employee discount. Without hesitation, Jenna jumped in: “I have a boyfriend, but you can have her number—she’s single!” Brittany turned bright red as Cruz laughed and clarified that he meant employee numbers. Still, something shifted in that moment. Feeling bold, Brittany decided to make her move and followed Cruz on Instagram—a big step in today’s dating world. He quickly accepted and messaged her, inviting her to hang out with him and their mutual friend that very night. What started at 9:30 PM turned into hours of nonstop conversation that lasted until 4 AM. Neither of them wanted the night to end. From there, everything fell into place. Hangouts became dates, phone calls turned into late-night FaceTimes, and study sessions slowly revealed feelings neither could deny. On June 26, 2019, Cruz asked Brittany to be his girlfriend—and just like that, days turned into months, and months into years. Fast forward to August 25, 2024. What Brittany thought was a simple birthday getaway became a moment she will cherish forever. Cruz surprised her with a sunrise photo shoot at South Padre Island. As they walked along the pier, greeted by the sound of ocean waves and a softly lit sky, Brittany was stunned to see a giant “Marry Me” sign—and Cruz’s entire family waiting. Cruz got down on one knee and asked Brittany to marry him. Without hesitation, she said YES. After sharing the news with their families, wedding planning quickly began.
