Brittany and Colin’s story began on August 25, 2023 at Chicks Oyster Bar, where a chance meeting quickly turned into something neither of them expected. The very next day, Brittany had to leave for work. Her career as a private jet flight attendant which keeps her on a schedule of two weeks in the air followed by two weeks at home. When she returned, Colin was there waiting with pizza and a smile that made it feel like home. They spent the next month together before Colin had to leave for sea. As a merchant mariner, his job meant sailing away for months at a time, often with little to no communication. During those early months, their connection survived on the occasional email whenever his ship briefly had service. It wasn’t always easy, but even across oceans and time zones, their love only grew stronger. Their first year together quickly turned into a worldwide love story. Brittany flew to meet Colin whenever she could. They spent time together in Croatia, Slovenia, and Spain. When Colin returned home for three months, they made the most of every moment before he sailed again, this time spending eight months stationed in Bahrain. Brittany kept their love close by sending care packages and letters for every holiday and even flying overseas just to spend a week with him in Bahrain. After two years of long distance, Colin finally finished his contract and came home. Not long after, he proposed in front of Brittany’s entire family at the Avon Fishing Pier, a place filled with meaning and memories for Brittany and her family’s cottage there. It was the perfect place to begin their next chapter. Just a few weeks later, they closed on their first home together in Gretna, La. Brittany had lived in Virginia her whole life, while Colin lived in Texas for most of his, but together they started a new adventure building a life 17 hours away from her hometown, side by side. Colin introduced Brittany to fishing and now there best days home are spent on the water as Captain & First Mate. After three years of a love that truly went the distance, Brittany and Colin cannot wait to say “I do” on October 18, 2026.
