Cohen and Brittany Payge attended the same school but were always just out of each other's orbit, each harboring a secret crush on the other that remained hidden for many years. Fast forward to 2019, Brittany was a junior in college, and Cohen had just completed the Navy's boot camp in Chicago. During the holidays, Cohen returned home and had been messaging Brittany for a few months, rekindling an old connection. Little did he know, Brittany had just broken up with her boyfriend three hours before he asked her on a date. Filled with excitement and nervousness, Brittany eagerly said yes; after all, she had admired Cohen for years. They decided to meet at Yamato, a charming restaurant in Richmond. Cohen arrived early with his friends Jakob and Chloe. As the minutes ticked by, he began to worry that Brittany had stood him up. But just when doubt began to cloud his mind, Brittany walked through the door. The moment she laid eyes on Cohen, her heart skipped a beat. She knew then and there that this was the man she was destined to marry. After a delightful dinner filled with laughter and shared stories, they went to a church in New Paris, Ohio, to watch a performance by a friend of Cohen's father. Brittany was enchanted, not only by the music but by the sight of Cohen dancing with his mother. She admired how tenderly he treated her, revealing a side of Cohen that melted her heart even more. The night continued at a bustling skating rink in Richmond. Cohen decided to have some fun and race on the rink. In a burst of excitement, he lost his balance and crashed, resulting in a broken wrist. Concerned but still in high spirits, Jakob, Chloe, and Brittany rushed Cohen to the ER at Reid Hospital to get him checked out. Despite the unexpected turn of events, the group’s spirits remained high. They ended the night at Chloe's house, where they watched movies and relaxed. It was here, amidst the cozy ambiance and shared moments, that Cohen and Brittany shared their first kiss, marking the beginning of their love story. The next day, reality set in as Cohen's father came to pick him up and drive him back to Chicago. Brittany had to return to her college in Richmond for work. As she drove back, tears streamed down her face; she didn’t want Cohen to leave, the Navy taking him away once more. For the next two weeks, Cohen and Brittany spent countless hours on FaceTime, talking until the early hours of the morning. Their bond grew stronger with each passing day. Finally, Cohen asked Brittany to be his girlfriend, and she joyfully accepted. And so began the beautiful journey of Cohen and Brittany, filled with love, adventure, and the promise of a wonderful future together.
