Adventure Elopement

“You’re eloping? Like, in Vegas?”, is a common question we’ve gotten when we say that we are eloping. While Vegas works for some, we wanted to focus on a wedding centered not only on our love but on nature’s beauty and the gorgeousness that is the Pacific Northwest. The mountains are a big reason why Brittany made the move from Minnesota to Seattle nearly 10 years ago and so incorporating them is so special. Chris, being a native Washingtonian and avid outdoors enthusiast also loved the idea of getting married in nature. Chris and Brittany will be married at Mt. Baker in the North Cascades surrounded by nature's beauty and their parents. Whether you call it an elopement or micro-wedding, the goal is the same, to have an intentional day to celebrate one another and our love!

How it Started

Like most Millennials, Chris and Brittany first connected via a dating app called Happn (not sure if it’s even a thing these days) in summer 2017. For this particular app, when you crossed paths geographically with people, you could review their profile and then could swipe your interest. If you both said yes, then you could chat. When the mutual match occurred, the app showed Brittany that Chris had been in the same neighborhood of Capitol Hill (in Seattle). After a few dates, Chris told Brittany that he believed the app glitched because he had not been in Seattle for several weeks (he lived in Issaquah then) and that he remembers specifically being in line at the grocery store when they connected. Whatever the cause or glitch, Chris and Brittany are so glad it happened so they could meet and fall in love.

The Proposal

10/15/2024

Imagine, you are on vacation in Europe visiting Germany and the Czech Republic with your long time girlfriend knowing your plan to propose on your cute Air B&B balcony in Prague only to see the disappointment on her face when you get there and she sees that the balcony is not as advertised (and she’s kind of tired and hangry). Time to pivot and create a back up plan. And the very next day (well fed on a lunch of Svickova, bread dumplings, and fresh Czech pilsner), that plan went into effect by convincing her to take a slightly out of the way walk to Letensky Profil, a large park on the north side of the Vltava River with sweeping views of the city and it's old town. After some admiring of the view and trying to figure out the right spot in a park and city we'd never been to before, we finally found a bench to rest for a few minutes and it was time to pop the question, and she said, "Yes"! A celebratory beer spa visit and multi-course dinner followed that evening with a champagne toast on the balcony making up for the initial balcony challenges.

How You Can Celebrate Us

We thank our family, friends, and loved ones (near and far) for their excitement and support of our upcoming wedding. While the Mt. Baker ceremony will be intimate, we hope to include other loved ones in our special day by viewing pre-recorded videos or written letters, etc. that we receive in advance. Feel free to send us any well-wishes, sage marriage advice, funny stories, or anything meaningful for us to read or watch on the mountain top that day! In terms of a larger celebration, we plan to host a casual reception in 2026 to gather together. Expect a party! Please see the registry page if you feel so inclined to contribute funds for our future together. With love, Chris & Brittany
