We're getting married!

Back in 2013 Brittany was a senior at St. Joes and Chris was a senior at Villanova. Every year around Thanksgiving Brittany's sorority, Sigma Sigma Sigma, would have their annual winter formal. Brittany's roommate - Caroline Spry (a bridesmaid) - talked to her date - John Locascio (a groomsman) - about setting Brittany up with his roommate and fellow lacrosse teammate, Chris Conroy, as her date. Caroline told Brittany that Chris was "super nice, but a little quiet" and John told Chris that Brittany was "super nice, but definitely a talker!" Turns out they were the perfect match, and have been together ever since!

It was a hot Friday night in July, and Chris and Brittany were finally back in their Hoboken apartment after spending about 5 months at Chris's parents beach house "quarantining" due to COVID. They had dinner plans to finally go back to their favorite restaurant, Elysian Cafe, for a much needed romantic night out. Before getting showered and ready, Chris suggested that they go for a long walk in lieu of a pre-dinner workout since it was so hot outside. Brittany agreed, and headed to the door to put on her sneakers. After tying her shoes she stood back up and turned around only to find Chris getting down on one knee. She doesn't remember the words that were exchanged but "yes" was definitely one of them! They then took their walk, FaceTimed family and friends, and celebrated with a lovely dinner at their weekly spot - Elysian Cafe. Fun fact #1 - due to COVID, Elysian had expanded their outdoor dining half way up the entire street block to accomodate the social distance requirements. This caused Brittany and Chris to be seated directly in front of their first apartment together! Fun fact #2 - Chris proposed on 7/24, which is right at the end of the St. Ann's Novena. If you know the Barnic's, then you know the St. Ann's novena has granted more than a few miracles for their family. Brittany had followed the advice of her mother and grandmother and prayed "St. Ann, St. Ann, please bring me a man" half jokingly for years. She pulled through, and now they can't wait to say "I Do!" on 8/13. Fun fact #3 - Chris' parents Peg and Dave Conroy got engaged on this exact same day, July 24th, 32 years ago! Chris had no idea, so this is truly such a coincidence! A happy, healthy marriage of 32 years and counting sounds like a good sign to us that 7/24 was the perfect proposal date!
