Brandon’s Perspective: How We Met

November 11th, 2016

I had heard about a free salsa lesson at a local club and figured, why not? I went by myself expecting nothing more than a typical night out. I checked my coat, the host called the class to start, and she told us to look around and find a partner. That’s when I saw her, this gorgeous, confident, unbelievably stunning woman named Brittany. Of course, I had to shoot my shot. We were flirting immediately, and at one point she asked if I had a car. I told her no… but I did have a motorcycle. She said she had never been on one before. Lucky for both of us, I happened to have a second helmet. After the class, we ended up spending the whole night exploring Greensboro together. We rode around the city, grabbed Subway downtown, talked until they closed, and kept wandering and laughing like we’d known each other forever. Somewhere between walking her to her car and talking about that motorcycle ride, something just clicked. And honestly? I haven’t been able to get rid of her since. We’ve been inseparable ever since that night.

Brittany’s Perspective: How We Met

November 11th, 2016

I was a sophomore in college taking Intro to Dance, mostly because prerequisites are a thing and I thought it would be an easy A. Little did I know that class would introduce me to the love of my life. My professor told us we could earn credit by attending a salsa club that offered free dance lessons, we just had to write a paper on our experience, so my friend Bailey and I decided to go. The moment I walked in, I looked across the room, saw this incredibly handsome man, and said, “I’m going to marry that man.” And if you know me, you know I usually get what I want… and here we are, ten years later. We danced the night away, though Brandon and I still take lessons because we are definitely not salsa pros yet. After the class, we spent that chilly November night talking and grabbing food at Jimmy John’s until they closed. When we finally headed out, Brandon mentioned he had a motorcycle. I told him I loved motorcycles and used to ride with my dad, and he said, “Oh really? I have a second helmet if you want to go for a spin.” It was 40 degrees, the wind was freezing, and yes, I was not dressed for the weather I was wearing a romper and flip-flops. But I didn’t care for a second. I was having the time of my life on the back of this ridiculously handsome man’s motorcycle. After riding around Greensboro, he walked me back to my car, and I still didn’t want the night to end. So we stood there talking even longer, like time didn’t matter. We’ve been inseparable ever since, and I feel so blessed to call this man my best friend.
