When people ask us how we met it is sometimes awkward. We met on the dating app Tinder. Beezer is older than I am and when I first saw his profile I thought "Hmmm he's cute but maybe too old for me". Well, I ended up swiping right and we became a match. From there we will have been together for 6 and a half years once married.
On September 6, 2023, I was at work fighting for my life in the online queue for Zach Bryan tickets. Miraculously, I got them — and had no idea those tickets would eventually lead to one of the best days of my life. On March 12, 2024, Beezer and I drove to State College for the concert. I was over-the-moon excited; Beezer was mostly amused watching me lose my mind. I was sick, had practically no voice, and still managed to scream-sing every song until there was truly nothing left. Zach Bryan was incredible — and Beezer stood there smiling, happy simply because I was happy. The next morning, March 13, we woke up at Raystown Lake after arriving at our hotel around 1 a.m. Since we were already in such a beautiful area, we decided to go hiking. We made our way to the Balanced Rock overlook, crossed a little bridge, and stopped at a waterfall. On the hike back, we paused at the waterfall again to take some pictures. Usually, we set my phone on video and take screenshots later, but I had just learned how to take photos using my Apple Watch and was determined to use it. Beezer went along with it, like he always does. We took a couple of photos, and then he looked at me and asked, “Do you want to trade your ring?” (I was wearing a simple promise ring at the time.) He asked again, “Do you want to trade that ring in for a new one?” That’s when it clicked. I immediately stopped him — not to say yes, but to switch my phone from photo mode to video mode. Yes, I literally paused my own proposal to make sure it was recorded. And to make it even more on-brand for me, I blurted out, “I’m in my chicken-shit shoes!” because I was wearing the shoes I use at the nature center. My hands were shaking, my voice was gone, and I couldn’t get my promise ring off, but I was so overwhelmingly excited. I finally gave the raspiest, breathiest “yes.” Beezer, rightfully, didn’t trust me to wear the new ring for the rest of the hike, so he put it back in the box until we made it to the car. On the drive out, we stopped at another spot so I could take actual nice pictures with the ring on. It was imperfect, chaotic, funny, and absolutely perfect for us.
