The Deer Park Tavern, a Delaware landmark and the beginning of our forever. In the mix of meeting new friends and catching up with old ones, Alex and I were introduced by an old High School buddy. We casually shook hands and exchanged big smiles before returning to our regularly scheduled Sunday Funday. With the help of a few Long Islands, Alex asked me out on the dance floor. After showing me his killer dance moves, the two of us spent the rest of the evening getting to know one another on the outdoor patio. Before the existence of Uber, Alex’s friend group coincidentally “left” him without a ride back home which all went according to plan as I happily offered him a lift. An exchange of phone numbers and a kiss good night, I was on my way home. I pulled into the driveway and heard my phone beep. It was Alex sending me a photo of a dark grey “Old Navy” flip flop with a caption, “I think I have your shoe.” To which my reply was, “Wait you stole my shoe so that I would have to see you again?” The very next day was our first date and what a ride it has been.
