Substance Church - Downtown
Our #1 recommendation for your stay in Mpls. This was our church home while living in Mpls and love these people like family. Service times are 9:30 and 11:30 on Sunday, and it’s walkable from the wedding block hotel & most other downtown locations. Free parking ramp, too! Check it out ❤️
MN State Fair
The most attended state fair in the country by average daily attendance. This is the final weekend so it will be packed! We definitely recommend taking a shuttle (there are locations all over!) and not trying to drive there - it's nearly impossible to find parking. Enjoy some insane food on a stick and send us pics!
Stone Arch Bridge
Rent bikes or walk across the Mississippi River on this historic pedestrian bridge just east of downtown. One of the best views of the city!
Mall of America
The world-famous Mall of America! It’s a great spot to take families on a rainy day. You can find everything here - shopping, an amusement park, restaurants, and an aquarium!
Minnehaha Falls
A gorgeous waterfall in the heart of South Minneapolis. There's trails nearby, a restaurant, and bikes to rent. We love coming here a few times a summer and think it's well worth your visit!
Lyon's Pub
For those of you coming up from the great state of Nebraska (or those of you that just want a taste of Garrett’s home state!), Lyon’s Pub is the Husker bar in Minneapolis and located just blocks from the wedding hotel. The Huskers kick off the Scott Frost era at the day before our wedding on Saturday at 7pm against Akron. There are usually drink specials, and often Nebraska food (Runzas, etc). We recommend showing up at least 30-45 minutes before kick to get a spot as it tends to be wall-to-wall scarlet and cream on game day!
Blue Door Pub University
When in Minnesota, you must try a Juicy Lucy (a burger stuffed with cheese inside of it). Our favorite spot isn't where this legend originated, but we think it’s the best! It might have something to do with their great craft beer selection... enjoy!
Sonora Grill
Brittani's cousin gave us this recommendation a few years ago, and it quickly became a regular spot for us to grab tacos and margaritas. Their food is well worth it any time of day, but they have a great brunch or a fun happy hour!
Minneapolis Sculpture Garden
A recently renovated free outdoor sculpture garden featuring the iconic Minneapolis Spoon and Cherry fountain - well worth a visit for kids or adults! It's free to walk around and also right across the street from the Walker Art Museum.
Minneapolis Institute of Art
A free art museum you could spend all day in!
Walker Art Center
One of Minneapolis' best art museums. Be sure to check their rotating exhibits online so you know what's there when you go.
Brit's Pub
A British bar right in heart of downtown that has one of the best rooftops in the city, including lawn bowling courts! To play is a bit expensive, but a fun experience. Sometimes they have soccer games playing on the big screen and you can sit on the lawn to watch. If you go, def head upstairs and check out what they have going on!
Indeed Brewing Company and Taproom
One of our favorite breweries in Minneapolis. It was one of the originals and just always has good beer.
Surly Brewing Co.
Often called the best brewery in the Midwest, this taproom is a sight to see! Great food and great beer. With 20+ brews on tap, it’s easy to spend an entire afternoon or evening here. Be warned, if you're looking to get seated inside, it can be a 2-3 hour wait on weekends! We recommend coming early, putting your name in, grabbing a few beers, and heading out to the patio while you wait. There are some seats outside that are first come first serve! There's also plenty of great drinks to keep you busy!
Science Museum of Minnesota
A great activity for kids that includes many hands on learning experiences that even teens can enjoy. Make sure to find the musical stairs!
LynLake Brewery
This brewery has an amazing rooftop AND amazing beer. What more could you ask for?!
Nice Ride Station - 9th St & 4th Ave
This is just one station where you can rent Nice Ride bikes. Check out their website - stations are all over the city and are a perfect way to explore Minneapolis or St. Paul!
Bde Maka Ska (Lake Calhoun)
You can't go to MN and not spend some time at the lake! Calhoun (Bde Maka Ska) is probably the most popular urban lake. Located just a couple miles from downtown, you can go swimming, walk around it, play frisbee, join a volleyball game, rent kayaks, or relax on one of the beaches.
