In a sea of thousands of Southern Californians looking hopelessly for love on dating apps, we were blessed with a match that intrigued us more than the rest. For one (and most importantly), we both had a mutual love for Jesus paraded across our profiles. Secondly (and also very important), we were extremely attracted to and charmed by each other. Sean wasted no time after the hellos and how are yous, and skipped right to, "Are you plugged into a church?" Intrigue led to hours of late night chats on the phone, first dates, meeting friends, meeting family, developing true friendship, more dates, and eventually, a deep deep love and respect for each other. We had finally got it right.
Britt's parents have always led with the advice that in order to fully commit to a lifetime with someone, you should see them a full revolution around the sun, through all the seasons. And with that advice, Sean followed suit, literally. In a full circle moment a year to the day back to their first date spot at a firepit in Newport Beach, Sean took out a piece of paper from his jacket pocket. With shaky hands and teary eyes, he read the contents of the page he had ripped from his prayer journal. That day marked a milestone of commitment, companionship, and compromise, and with absolute certainty, they were engaged.
